In middle school, Judith Vician ‘67 Nixon’s family took frequent summer trips to their home in Bass Lake, and she still recalls dreaming of attending Valparaiso University when they drove past the Chapel of the Resurrection. Her dreams came true in 1963 when she enrolled as a student, a poignant moment that altered her life story, as she met her future husband at their freshman mixer a week before classes started.
In the years after graduation, Nixon reflected on her appreciation for the education and lifelong relationships that Valpo gave to her and began making gifts to the University, eventually learning of additional ways to give. After doing some research and knowing she wanted to make a major gift to Valpo, Judith, a former librarian, determined that contributing to the Christopher Center Library via her annuity was the right option for her.

Judith encourages those interested in giving to Valpo to speak with their financial advisor and consider giving through their individual retirement account (IRA) because of the many tax benefits and opportunities to give to multiple organizations. For Judith, making a gift to Valpo is an opportunity to showcase her gratitude and appreciation for her education while putting her support behind something she is passionate about.
